What Are The Main Benefits Of Drinking Water?
Everyone knows that they should drink more water.
We are constantly hearing that water is great for you, that we should drink more of the somewhat bland tasting stuff, and that it will make our lives amazing (OK, I’m exaggerating a little bit there).
But even though many of us know that we should be drinking more water, very few of us actually do.
This is a shame, since water really is amazing – and one of the best natural (and free) medicines that you can give your body.
So, my goal for this article is to get you drinking more water, each and every day!
How do I plan to do this?
Simple. By going over all of the most important benefits of drinking water.
Knowing that you should do something might spur action for a couple people – but understanding why you should be doing it is a lot more compeling.

That is huge.
Therefore, it shouldn’t surprise you that if you aren’t drinking enough water consistently, it can negatively impact some of your most basic functions.
This includes digestion, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients – and a whole host of other things that you really don’t want to be having needless issues with.
Most people don’t know what fascia is, which is a shame because it is so critical to how you move and experience life.
Basically, fascia consists of tough sheets of connective tissue that surround almost all of the structures in your body – such as muscles, nerves, organs, bones and blood vessels.
The fascia serves to separate these different structures from each other, while also binding them together.
This sounds pretty important, right?
I mean, if fascia is both creating the nessccary separation between your body’s various components AND helping to hold everything together, you definitely want it to be in good shape.
In short, if your fascia isn’t healthy, your ability to move properly will suffer, and your day-to-day life experience will be reduced.
And do you know what fascia is primarily composed of?
If you guessed water, you would be correct!
So by taking in adequate quantities of water, you are helping to ensure that your fascia remains healthy and functions properly.
If you’re reading this blog, it’s a fair guess that you care about your appearance.
And, of course, how much you weigh plays a massive role in how good you look.
The problem is, many of us (myself included) love food just a little bit too much.
It is easy to overeat, especially if you don’t have a specific nutrition plan that you’re following.
Water can help with this.
By drinking a glass or two of water 10-20 minutes before your meals, you’ll find that you’re considerably less likely to gorge yourself.

Youthful looking skin
Staying on the topic of appearance, water can make an enormous difference to how your skin looks.
Yes, more of a difference than all of those cleansers and lotions that companies hawk at you.
You see, just like the rest of your body, your skin contains a significant amount of water.
And when you’re not adequately hydrated, your skin can look more wrinkly and older.
In fact, when working with clients, we’ve seen noticeable differences in complexion within less than 3 weeks simply by increasing water intake!
Whenever cells don’t have adequate water, they tend to shrivel.
And your muscle cells are no different!
This means that if you aren’t sufficiently hydrated, your performance in the gym can suffer considerably.
You won’t be able to lift as much weight, you’ll get more tired, and your progress will be slower.
Obviously when you exercise, you sweat out water, so it is important to hydrate properly during and after each workout.
However, you also need to be well-hydrated at the beginning of your workouts, which will only happen if you’re drinking enough water throughout the day.
Regular bowel movements
I’ll cut to the chase: constipation sucks.
The good news is that it’s generally preventable for most healthy people.
We all know that eating enough fiber plays a big role in ease and frequency of your bowel movements, but many people don’t realize that water plays a major role as well.
When you don’t get enough water, the colon will pull in water from your stools, resulting in constipation.
So keep your gastrointestinal tract running smoothly by getting plentiful quantities of H20.
Your kidneys are responsible for removing toxins from you body.
When you are well-hydrated, your kidneys are highly-efficient at doing their job.
However, when you don’t get enough water, their efficiency drastically decreases, since they start trapping water instead of excreting it.
This puts you at risk of getting kidney stones, which you definitely want to avoid!
One easy way to tell if you are getting enough water is by the color of your urine.
If it is clear, and doesn’t have a smell, then you are generally pretty well hydrated.
On the other hand, if it is yellow in color and smells a bit strange, then you’ve got some water drinking to do!
When you have a pounding headache, it can be extremely difficult to focus and get anything done.
There are lots of different medications for headaches – ranging from over-the-counter painkillers, to more heavy-duty prescription meds.
But one under-utilized remedy is simply drinking more water.
While this won’t necessarily knock out your headaches once they’ve already started, staying sufficiently hydrated may help you prevent future ones from being as bad, or lasting as long.
This has been reported to have an impact on stress headaches, cluster headaches, and sinus headaches – so if you suffer from any of these it’s worth examining your water consumption habits.
The great thing about water is that it’s free, or very cheap compared to other beverages.
You turn on your tap, and there it is, ready to be consumed.
Don’t live in a place where the water is pure enough to drink from the tap directly?
